Our Island - Mahibadhoo
Mahibadhoo is the capital island of Alif Dhaal Atoll. Situated 42knot South West of Male, the island measures 1.5 miles in length and 0.75 miles in width. This little charming island is surrounded by beaches and coral reefs.
On the west side of the island where we are located, you will find a small lagoon bordered by a nice coral reef.
You can enjoy a stroll through the streets to experience the local Maldivian life scene. The island has two harbours, the old and the new one, where you can see dhonis which is a typical Maldivian wooden boats, local fishermen doing their work, and at times the ferry coming in from Male.
The eastern side of the island is bordered by a beautiful beach, where you can sit down in the sun or beneath one of the many trees and watch the waves coming in or people passing by. Through the streets, you will pass the football field, where you might be lucky to watch one of the hotly cheered games, the beautiful mosque, local shops where u can pop in and local restaurants& cafés to enjoy a meal or drink.
The island is also well-equipped with basic services like a hospital, banking facilities, ATM, telecommunications shop and convenience stores. US dollars are generally accepted on the island.
Islam is the only official religion in the Maldives.
Maldivian people are very friendly and welcoming. When staying on a local island, please show respect to some local customs.
Alcohol is forbidden on local islands and thus not available on our island, Mahibadhoo. It is also not allowed to bring your own alcohol to the island.
Women should always cover their shoulders and knees while moving around on the island.
Within the guesthouse area, on the boat and outside the inhabited island, you are free to enjoy the sun and water in your swimwear.
