Before Departure to Maldives
- You can refer to the guideline on "The Public Health Interventions to Present COVID-19 Transmission in the Tourism Sector" for details what tourists can expect as you plan for your Maldives trip.
- All tourists are required to submit an online Health Declaration Form within 24 hours prior to departure through the IMUGA portal. In addition, the lab result should be presented in paper or electronic format during the airline check-in.
- All tourists are required to hold a negative PCR test for COVID-19 conducted 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure from the first port of embarkation enroute to Maldives.
- If the tourist makes a transit during the journey, the initial PCR test will be valid if the transit does not exceed 24 hours.
- If the tourist makes a transit exceeding 24 hours, the passenger must repeat the PCR test within 96 hours prior to the embarkation at the port of transit.
- The document containing the PCR test result must clearly state the following information:
- Name of the passenger (name as in passport)
- Name and address of the testing laboratory
- Type of test stated as a PCR test
- Date and time of sampling
- Result
- To strictly ensure that the tourists (excluding children and infants who are not eligible for vaccination) have completed the recommended dose(s) of a Covid-19 Vaccine (approved by the World Health Organization Emergency Use Listing (EUL) or the Maldives Food and Drug Authority and at least 14 (fourteen) days have passed after the recommended doses(s) before the check-in to Tourist Guesthouses in local islands.
On Arrival in Maldives
- All tourists are granted a 30-day free visa upon arrival.
- Quarantine upon arrival is not required. However, if the passenger has a fever, cough or shortness of breath on board the flight or upon arrival, he/she should informed to the local Health Protection Agency immediately.
- All tourists must undergo thermal screening at the arrival terminal.
- All tourists should wear masks.
- Hands should be sanitized. Hand sanitization and hygiene facilities are available throughout the airport.
- Physical distancing should be ensured. All physical distancing guidelines are clearly marked with visible distance information and floor markings in passenger terminals.
- All tourists are encouraged to install the Contact Tracing app "TraceEkee".
Departure from Maldives
- For tourists who required COVID-19 test results to return to their countries of origin or another destination, testing services are available at our island hospital. If you have such need, let us know and we can help to arrange.
Maldives COVID-19 Insurance Plan
- For spilt-stays, all accommodations must take a prior approval as per official procedures and guidelines from the Tourism Board of Maldives.
- Spilt-stay can be permitted on the following basis:
- Tourists are allowed to travel from a tourist guesthouse island to another if the tourist guesthouse islands are not under monitoring nor have any reported cases of community spread.
- Tourists are allowed to travel from a tourist resort to a tourist guesthouse and vice-versa given the spilt-stay procedures are complied with. However, if a tourist has stayed at a tourist guesthouse at any point during their stay in Maldives, they are required to conduct a PCR test 72 hours prior to their scheduled departure from Maldives.
- For approval of all above inter-island travels, tourists have to submit form SS-1 via email to [email protected] within two day of the scheduled travel date. You can download the form here under "Post Covid-19 Forms"
- No prior approval is required for a day visit between different tourist resorts and guesthouse islands and vice versa.
Maldives COVID-19 Insurance Plan
- Allied Insurance Company, together with the Ministry of Tourism, launched a COVID-19 insurance policy, focusing on tourists visiting Maldives.
- This insurance policy called "Allied Inbound" consists of two options covering medical charges, isolation facility charges, emergency medical transportation charges and interment charges. Tourists who are interested in this insurance should apply for the plan 24 hours prior to your arrival in Maldives through the Allied Insurance website. For more information, download brochure here.
